It takes a bit of work, but the Audi's look smashing with a lcd molded in dash...a very standard look.

one more consideration is the depth of the dash.
a really REALLY nice install is possible if you have a 2din dash that's 11"+ deep.
the Travela C134 case is a 1din case that would fit nicely under the indash screen.. but it's 10" deep.

What exactly did you mean, "the scions have a nice cover on their dash" ? (I'm wondering if that had something to do with installing a touchscreen into the dashboard).

I'm not very familiar with cars, but $16,000 is in the general price range I'm looking to spend and they look AMAZING!! I've found two local dealers in the area so I'm going to look at them this week.

    How reliable are they?

Are they good for installing a touchscreen/computer? From the looks of it, it doesn't have a standard size cd-player so it looks to be very difficult to install an LCD screen/computer... is this true?

Well you can say the tC is begging for a touchscreen to be installed in the dash.

Look as this link, skeeter007 did a really nice job with the install.
    2005 Scion tC Media System

It does look VERY nice, but when looking at the installed LCD screen, can you see the inside of the car (on the left and right?) It looks like that the LCD panel fits height-wise but width-wise it's too short and the inside of the car is exposed.

Also, how difficult is it to install? I'm always willing to experiment with DIY, but I've only installed a car stereo into my 1989 Ford Escort (yep, it was my first car... now I'm driving a 1995 Eagle Talon TSi, but a 2005 Scion tC would be a SWEET upgrade). So, needless to say, I know very little about cars and even less about taking them apart.

Opinions? (any opinions about the car itself?)

I don't think it would be too difficult to install the screen in the tC, I'm not sure but I don't believe skeeter007 had to do any cutting. It just a matter of removing the stock stereo and putting the screen in place. Also it not a big problem to fix the gaps on the left and right side, some bondo would fix that up easily.
