Well my current car (1995 Eagle Talon TSi) has around 122k miles on it and is almost ready for the junkyard so within a couple of months I will be looking to buy a new car. At first I was looking at Jetta's but they cost a bit too much (~$19k for a USED 2002 with 30k miles, yuck). I'm not too picky when it comes to cars so thats why I'm open for ideas...
Now before I ask for suggestions let me say that I am not very good with installing anything into a car. However, I'm very good with computers (I am a software developer) but I always have car audio shops install the actual equipment into the car.
So, is there any type of car that would make it easy for me to install a lilliput (or another type of screen)? I'd also like a car where the touchscreen can be installed in a nice place and not on top of the dashboard or stuck behind a stick shift, etc.
I'm looking to spend (hopefully) between $12k and $14k on the car and another $1.5k on the audio/video equipment (lilliput + computer + amplifier [I'm assuming I need an amp since I'd be removing the factory stereo]).
In case anybody is wondering I'm located in Pennsylvania (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area), so if anybody does lilliput installs I would be VERY interested. Of course I'd be willing to drive to Philadelphia for a good deal (and for somebody who does a good job of course).
Thanks for any advice! I look forward to joining the MP3CAR community.

Thanks for the replies!
The eclipse looks very nice. I'm assuming you did the install yourself? That would be perfect for me but I'd have to find somebody willing to install something like that for me.
What about something like this?

That would be perfect if the LCD screen could be pushed back into the stereo (eg. hidden away). The link above doesn't appear to do that.. Are there any that DO work like that?
Keep the ideas coming! I'm very excited![]()

the install on the eclipse was very easy. i simply used a regular car stereo mounting sleeve. then i installed the xenarc mount to the stereo sleeve and installed it in the car. its a direct fit. you don't need to cut anything. its great.
the scions have a nice cover on their dash
I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.

Are you sure it can be pushed back into the unit itself? They don't seem to have any pictures of that...Originally Posted by grepzen
Yes, it goes all the way back in. Though that is an LCD one without touchscreen. You will find it difficult to read GPS, small MP3 writing etc.
If you want top performance, get this one

I have one and it is perfect.
Check this for an in-dash picture, (not great quality picture)
VW Golf V6 install
If you are willing to go with a truck pretty much any of the last two generations of the ford f-150's will work perfect, they have a double din opening which the lcds fit right into.
