    possible ??

    I'm planning to pull the factory radio and use the car-pc as the head unit... i know no biggie... but is it possible to actully push the outputs from the car-pc directly into a power amp. ?? based on my thinking it shouldn't be a broblem.. but would love the forum's opinion..

    i'm planning on using the ICOM IC-PCR1000 for the main raido, eliminating the need for the scanner AND the am/fm radio (too bad it dosn't transmit)

    external radio -> carpc -> 4channel amp -> spkrs
    (line level) -> (line level )->(same)->spkr level

    12v line from the car-pc energizing a small relay to turn on the amp, i know i shouldn't need the relay.. but i'd rather it for isolation ...

    anybody see any issues or problems with this setup ??

    this is what most people do (well what pretty much everyone does if they dont use a headunit)

    to turn your amp on put the relays coil on your computer psu, and the wire from your ignition/acc through the relays switch, this eliminates the speaker "pop" when your computer turns on, your amp will be on whenever your key is in the igniton/acc position AND the computer is on

    I bought this little gem: http://www.audiocontrol.com/MobileAu...nDash/HPX.html
    I've been doing high end audio in my car for many years now so I wanted some serious stuff to control the audio side of the PC. I get to have 13V preouts to my amps. This is probably a bit overkill for most amps, but my old eclipse HU had the same max and RMS specs and my amps loved it. Nice clean transfer of music from the front of the car to the amps in the rear. Plus, I get a volume knob and a sub control knob which are 10x more convienient that messing with it on the PC. the additional source input was a nice bit of frosting on the cake as well. It will set you back about $250-$300 though
    AutoPC: M10k, WinXP, gps, wifi, 80GB HD, dvd-RW. SB mp3+
    MediaEngine front end, map monkey, netstumbler.
    gps mouse is on the fritz.....stupid technology

    I use a Clarion Eq with main/sub volume control similar to this unit...

    yeah, something at that level is going to be a lot accessable to non audio snobs and still get the job done.

    i do believe he was asking about having his headunit going INTO his CPC - rather than CPC INTO HU. And, as n00bish as this is gonna sound, I havent ever seen it done, heard of it done or thought about doing it - but I will say, its a damn good idea imo.

    I actually have the correct connectors for hu speaker line -> RCA converter, and RCA -> 3.5mm Jack -> into PC. hrmmm. that way i can get rid of my TV card which is a bastard and dont work with radiator, and therefore, frodo. (also, the app that comes with it isnt very smallscreen friendly).
