well im opposite, i live in florida, heat is a major concern and the inkjet carts just dry up in the heat. As for exploding ink from cold, doubt it cause most carts are vented. got an idea, take an empty cart and put it in ziplock bag and put it in the freezer. if it pops then you will know. I will try it now, i will post results in about 2 hours. I will sacrifice my black ink cart from my lexmark z25 ink jet printer for this test.

The one I got is a lexmark as well. It was free so that's that. Thank you very much for helping me out with all of this.

I had this idea and I have a free printer that I could hook up to an inverter.
Might do that sometime. Right now if I need to print something out quick I just drop it on a floppy and print it in my college library. I often type my homework in the car between classes. It's very convenient actually, especially with a 12.1" screen.

    ok heres what happened.
Put both black and color carts in the freezer for just over 5 hours.
Took them out and put them right into the printer.
The color cartridge prints with ZERO problems frozen.
The black cartridge DID NOT print, (might have to wait to thaw).
Neither cartridge, color or black, DID NOT explode, or leak whatsoever.
cartridges used were for lexmark inkjet printer, color 26, black 17

thjats very strange i would think color would have more problems based on that the compartments are smaller 3 color vs 1 black

Black should have taken longer to freeze?

    Very odd

I'm kinda working on that too. Hopefully for Xmas, I want one of those 12v coolers that you can switch from being warm to being cold by switching the plug around. Has anyone use one before? I've seen one that really did get pretty cold but I had one when they first came out and it didn't work very well. I'm hoping they've gotten better.
