    USB Powered DVD/CDRW w/case

Is there such a monster? I need a USB powered DVD/CDRW with an enclosure. I found some on newegg, but they all have power adapters. I know about the IDE to USB converting and such, but its going to be shoved in my glove box, so I need an enclosure for it. Help a brotha out here. Anyone found one?

If USB does not offer enough power then why are people doing conversions from IDE to USB and not using a power adapter? Plus you can get a USB powered hard drive, I don't see why you couldn't do a DVD/CDRW drive.

I have an external unit that has a Panasonic DVD/CDR and is USB. It draws its extra power from the PS2 connection. The connector still allows me to use the PS2 mouse connection.
I'll try to find the link where I got it.

it does work great by the way

    Here it is....

I did have to wait for shipping cuz they had problems with the power supply. I have seen these without any external power as well, so they probably add their own. I believe it will run off the USB bus or with external power

I like that. Does it require 2 usb plug-ins? 1 for power and 1 for data? If so, that sucks because I would have no more room for anything else usb... let me know.

I can't see how it would work since USB is 5v, and you need 12v for CDRW.

The reason IDE conversion won't work is because IDE doesn't supply the power.
