#$%@! NO! HELP! M10000 freezes while checking RAM

during the initial startup when the BIOS checks the RAM, it will freeze. It only does it if I have EITHER my GPS OR my Video Capture device, both USB. If I unplug both of those and boot, then it goes through fine all the way to Windows. Then I can plug them in and reboot and it works fine because the board only tests the RAM after it totally loses power, which means if I cut the power to the PSU then i have this problem again.

I checked the RAM with Memtest86 and came up with no problems. It only does it when I have either of those devices plugged in, but it ALWAYS does it if I have them plugged in--very consistent. Just like ryuandwings, it has been working fine since I got this thing back in April or May and just started yesterday. This system has been in development since last spring and I am supposed to ship it out to Canada NEXT WEEK. Murphy's law I suppose

this is on the desk bench using a standard 300w PSU, so I dont think that's it. But I guess I could try another PSU I have lying around here.

here's the thing: I have externally powered hubs that I can use, and the problem still exists. Using those hubs, the devices are not using any(?) power from the PSU so that shouldn't be a factor anymore?

I had suddenly remembered that I hooked up a full sized slot-load DVD drive at some point in the last 24 hrs, but removing that didnt have any effect.

    .

Disable the memmory check in BIOS see what that does. Also Make sure the BIOS is latest up to date, this is of course if it really isnt a power issue.

its an epia m10k, the GPS is usb1.1 and the video capture is 2.0

I couldnt find anywhere in the bios where I could disable the memory check, because that would definitely fix my problem. Im gonna update the bios here in a minute so we'll see how that works out.

Not to be repetative, but it does sound like a power issue. Did you try an alternate supply? Does the problem happen with any other combination of USB devices? Could one of your USB devices be defective and thus overdrawing the 5V rail? Does the problem happen no matter which USB ports you use on your m10k? Did you try another stick of RAM?
