Full featured carpc plus seperate DVD HU...any ideas how to hook this up?

I have a 2004 4Runner Sport and don't want to cut the dash at all. I plan on installing the the pc in the back with the amps, but I also want to get one of the digitalww motorized single din touchscreens as well as a DVD HU for FM radio and easy access for movies in the front.

Does anyone know how I could hook this up so that the two systems would be independent of each other? I don't want to run the HU through the PC due to boot times and just not wanting extra cabling/interference. I was going to look into some sort of rca switching device and run HU preouts as well as the pc through it, but don't know if this would be the best solution. Thanks in advance for any ideas you guys have.

First off, a motorized in-dash VGA monitor has yet to materialize. It's the holy grail of carPC setups that we've all been lusting for...

You've got it backwards, actually.
The PC audio will go through your headunit to amps/speakers as necessary. It just uses an AUX input. Your headunit DOES have an AUX input, doesn't it?

Now, if you want to be able to have audio from both at the same time or other requirements for your setup, then this isn't going to work for you. I just outlined the simplest route. Tweak as necessary for your needs.

Rando, your setup is what got me hooked on this in the first place. I saw you over on toyota-4runner.com. Anyways, I guess I left part of the explanation out.

First I was counting on this lcd, but just realized it's still on the coming soon list

. Second I have the 10 speaker JBL system in my 4runner which includes a center channel speaker. I wanted to be able to use full surround sound on this from both the pc and dvd player. I'll need to find a head unit that can take a spdif or analog 5.1 input or get one of those audio processors, but that's getting up there in dollars. What may actually work is one of those rca input switchers and I could have outputs from the pc and the HU going to the amp. That way I could just select which audio out I wanted to go to the amp. I would rather not use that solution, but it may be the only economical one.
