Get the Opus 150 or a 300 Watt ATX PSU and an inverter.

Or get an OPUS 90 and design a system that will run off that.

I am trying to find out if the MSI has user definable CPU clock settings. So far it looks like ypu can do fsb but not mulitiplier. I still like the idea of the ASUS as it has the personal boot screen option which would be very cool but the wire mod is really putting me off - especially in a car environment.

I got a Dell with a 2.4 processor, 256 mb ram, cd burner for $300. Check the small business section, they have better deals there. Also check the "outragous deals" under small business.

Dunno what kind of materials needed for that. Cant think of anything else i would need off the top of my head. This building my own box idea is sounding better and better....

How bout some ram and a hard drive starting with that? And possibly a sound card, but you can always use the onboard sound, same with the onboard video. I say your lookin about
70 for a Micro ATX mobo
75 for a Processor (probably a celeron) try Ebay
    40-60 for a hard drive
    40-60 for 256-512 ram
    200 for the opus
    about $465

That seems pretty good especially if you build your own case and have your own optical drive....

90 is not nearly enough for even a celeron. 90w Opus is good for EPIAs.

Go with the inverter/some shutdown controller from the mp3car.com store. It will be cheaper for you. You'll still need a PSU. And yeh, gut the old case

The inverter just isnt workin for me...Ive had 4 crap out on me. Granted I kept returning them and it didnt cost me mor ethan once, its still not reliable enough for me. I want a strong comptuer that i can rely on always working and can upgrade to GPS when the time comes. I need to resesarch more on mini mobos. Ill do that tomorrow n check back.

Then you can't have a powerful computer because the OPUS can only supply 150w... until the 220w version comes out.

Spend the money on a good inverter and you wont have that problem. Motorhomes use these things as OEM equipment. If you go to an RV store they should have some pretty good ones. I got mine from COSTCO, but it's not a usual item for them. It kicks ***.
