If you use an inverter/PSU setup, you should look at getting a shutdown controller. I'll take a lil out of your budget, but it is worth it!

I Could very well be wrong on that but i do know that mobile athlons are unlocked for changing cpu speed to conserve battery in laptops.

Badly need answers to these questions!
if i remember right, the wire mod is abit different for the mobiles, but no mobiles are different on some mobos u cant change the multis, but if my memory is right i think the nf7-s can handle it fine(err i dont think the new versions do tho eg nf7-s2 etc) (correct me if im wrong i havent been in the overclocking world for about 3-4 months)

Wire mod may use dfferent pins but i haven't checked but basically the priciple is the same. YOu can set vcore, fsb and multiplier with the mod. The Biostar board has full control i think but people have had issues with it and the Opus.

Check out this thread by MatrixPC, he has a link to the wiremod site with nice interactive program to help you...

Asus Micro Mobo and AMD XP-M 45W Barton

I thonk some of the Epox might have full control too but it is hard finding the Epox and biostar in the UK.

Biostar - but have to tell opus you are using it. And possibly Epox (which has dual VGA too). Not sure about the chaintech.

How about an E-vectra from HP?not the newest technology but super small, not bad specs and really cheap.I found one on Ebay Buy it now for $44.95!!!This machine is a 566mhz celeron,128 meg ram and 8.4g HDD.They do not have floppy drives but have USB,mouse ,keyboard etc.You could always use your DVD drive with a cable and mount in dash, console etc. This thing comes with an AC adapter/power pack so this tells me from a little research that it is already set to run on DC but not sure of the voltage.HP still sells parts for this on their website.Someone else had these with P3 700 processors and bigger memory/HDD for $79.95 a few weeks ago and Iam sure more will turn up soon.

Not a bad idea. Probably runs off something like 15-19V if its DC. Look at the PSU in HP tech support/parts

edit: then again if you got $400 to spend make it you can make it much quicker. Are you planning on running GPS? don't forget to budget for that too if you are.

So, Slitha, what did you finally get?

I'm in the quest for a uATX mobo, running an AMD Mobile (~2400+), as long as it does not require any wire hacks.

I haven't confirmed, but it sounds like the a7n8x-vm fits that spec...
