    40GB 5400 RPM Laptop Drive for $69.99 after rebate

    I thought I would post this here since it is a good deal on a 5400RPM drive:

    Apricorn Inc.
    Model - X409WBUN
    40GB
    8MB
    5,400 RPM
    Seek Time Average - 12 ms
    Maximum Burst Interface Transfer Rate - Up to 100MBps
    Sustained Throughput - Up to 450Mbps
    3 Year Limited Warranty

    Online = $109.99 - $40 rebate = 69.99 + shipping

    Instore price may be $99 (Houston), but I don't live there so cannot check.

    You can get a 40 gig 5,400 rpm 8 meg cache very nice and silent Samsung drive from Newegg for that price including shipping. I have two of them, and they are amazingly quiet and pretty fast to boot. 74 bucks with shipping.

    That reminds me, this drive should work OK in the Lappy 486 (by Compy) as well as a carputer.

    Yea, that does look like a better deal (with no rebate to worry about). The Apricorn drive *may* actually have a 16MB buffer though I don't really think that is a great plus. The 3 year warranty is nice if you think it will take some abuse, but by then they will be $20 if you can find a 40GB laptop drive

    I think this is the one you were talking about:
