I don't think that laptops IRDA infrared ports are compatible with girder and remote controls. Different protocol or freqs. Could be wrong, but it wasn't over a year ago when I set up my HTPC. Had to get a USB receiver for it to work.
Hi,
I'm having difficulty getting Girder set up with my Laptop IR Reciever. I have a Compaq Evo N600c with a "SMC IrCC - Fast Infrared Port". The device is running on IRQ 03 and DMA 01.
I want to set up girder and my IR Receiver to be able to control the laptop with an Alpine RUE-4187 Remote Control Unit.
Your help is greatly appreciated. I have searched without much luck on these forums, maybe I entered the wrong search criteria?
Thanks in advance,
Steve.

There's a plugin for Girder IIRC that would let you do it, but I think it was unsupported and "your mileage may vary" because the ports are not designed for it.Originally Posted by strohmrs
