XM Direct Audio Issue

I purchased a XM Direct, and have been trying to get it to work for a while now. I have successfully activated it, and have been using TouchXm and Xtreme PCR to view the channels. Before I had it activated (I didn't realize it had to be on), I was able to listen to Channel 1 and 247(?). Now I can't hear anything, just interferance noise.... yet I can see all of the channels.

This is what is wierd, the noise stops when I take out the right RCA cable. Has anyone else had this issue? I have tried two different stereo RCA->stereo 1/8" jack, and still nothing.

Perhaps I have a deffective unit.

I have had the same problem. It was a grounding problem. I grounded my computer case, and it solved the noise issue. (static) As far as no music, I am not sure. I would call XM and ask them to refresh the unit. I think that would be a good place to start.

OK.. slightly off topic but still a question. I just got an XM direct system (with the XM commander). I plan on building the serial interface cable to run off my car PC as is outlined in other areas. those cables all have a 12V tap, though. The instructions for the XM commander/Direct setup show using another 12V power system that plugs into the XM direct. Do I need both 12V taps or could I just use one or the other (preferably for my setup the one that goes straight to the XM direct)

I have the same system, too. Was wondering if you guys still hsave your commander controllers? I need one for an project I just started.

So If I use the 12V direct to the XM Direct then the 12V on the serial cable isn't needed... is that what you're saying for sure?

I'm runnin mine straight off the batteries with a switch. So far so good, but I'm going to be responsible if you fry yours.

Oh of course you wouldn't be responsible... I mean will work one way or the other I'm sure... just wasn't sure if you needed both... would find out on my own when I hooked it all up (when it warms up here)

How does this work with resume from hibernate?

I get sound now from all channels, but the static from the unit is terrible. I have the unit mounted right next to my opus, so I could plug in the the +12V or the ACC. I would assume that I should use the +12V, but wouldn't that leave the XMdirect on all the time? How would this affect Frodoplayer?
