Hey all, just finished adding an additional 80 gig 2.5" drive via external case filled with about 60 divx movies that I ripped and encoded for the purpose of a in-car DVD-Jukebox. Besides other issues with composite out/vga display both at the same time (per my other post), the MII-12000 just cant seem to cut it with the Xvid divx encoded .avi's I've created. They are at best, choppy, blocking, paused, un-synced sound in the carputer (no issues on my 3.06 p4 in the house).
Here's the delima, if you've seen my pictures here, I've since started the rear molding pan, most of the wood/vinyl has been fabrocated, and I'm actually STUCK with my Morex 3688 case and its mouting location, Width (left/right) and height (bottom of case to top of case) are the issues, I can go "deeper" (front panel to rear panel) but thats not the extra space any of the other cases seem to utilize. I do have an external Opus 150 (almost mandatory with all the external/USB devices I have, and positivly mandatory for a p4 I have read). The OEM PS ripped out if that helps stuffing the 3688 with any p4/ p4 speed equvilent Athlon or Celeron, but I think its more a heatsync/fan issue on the mini itx p4's.
The specs on a few sites I visited show them at 17cmx17cm but I cant seem to find a site selling the p4 mini-itx specing the ability to place in the 3688 case. Anyone got any experience, or knowledge on what has been used in the 3688. A recomendation from any of your experience's would be apperciated. About the only requirement is a cardbus slot for my GPRS/802.11g card, and that the internal 2.5" drive and slim line dvd-r can stay in the 3688 with the MOBO. Something that used my existing 512 ddr266 dimm would be nice as well.
I guess once I get a recomendation on a MOBO, I can choose its processor based on power/heat recomendations.
I figure that I've spent about 200 bucks on the fabrication that would be destroyed to change cases, so if the motherboard costs a little more to fit the 3688 its still cost efficient rather then new costs of new case and new fabrication to use a "lower priced p4 that wont fit in a 3688). Hope that makes sense...

Trying to find a Carbus controller that connects via usb doesnt seem to be too easy, everyone's got pcmcia cards that make usb ports, but I havent found a device that gives me a carbus slot via usb yet, so I suppose this P4 board HAS to have a carbus slot as adding one to a system without one seems limited to pci based cards? Wonder why? guess not many people need to add an additional carbus slot to their laptop in the real world?

Why the hell do you need a carbus slot so damned badly anyway? Anything you can get in CarBus form can be had in a PCI or USB device for a lot less money...

I only need the one for my wireless GPRS internet pcmcia card. Was looking at some of the min-itx m/b and saw some didnt have cardbus, so was saying if someone recomends one, make sure it has a cardbus or if not, anyone know of such a device...
Check out the ASUS pundit R. It has a built in pcmcia, and will support up to a p4 3.4. I have one right now. It's really small. I don't know exactly how much room you have, but this is pretty small for a system.
