FM radio on your PC solutions
I've spent some quality time this afternoon researching solutions to get FM radio on your PC. I am interested in it for a whole-house audio project I'm working on, but I thought I'd share what I've found.
If you go the PCI card route, you won't find anything cheaper than about $25-30 shipped (ebay or pricewatch). These are cards are simple to track down if thats what you need.
Everything would great if these were still in stock: http://www.compgeeks.com/details.asp...MMOUSE&cat=MOU
There are some people selling them on ebay, looks to be about $25 or so shipped to the US. After a great deal of googling, I found someone selling them cheaper... I think: http://www.warrenelectronics.com/FMmouse.htm. They want $10 but won't tell you what shipping costs. The whole site looks a bit shady for my tastes, but if you want that product, it might be worth calling them.
I found two other cheap USB radio solutions that look promising:
1) http://www.xpcgear.com/usbfmradio.html. $12 shipped for me. Looks sharp, but how good could the reception possibly be? There is no way to hook up an antenna, so I'll pass I think
2) http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=GN-061. $13 shipped (additional ones are $.50 off, so 4 of them works out to under $8 each!). Even though it looks kind of gay I think I might try a couple of these out.
If you guys know of anything I am missing (as far as sub-$20 stuff goes!) let me know.
