Just got my opus...

Just got my opus and as soon as I stop drewling over it (hope it doesn't damage any circuitry) I will be installing it! mmmmmmmmmmm

Girlfriend not happy as I was suppose to be taking her shopping today!

Its the 150watt and I just finished installing it and I'm having some problems. As soon as the system tries to boot windows I hear the hard disk power down and the screen goes black. Any ideas??

sounds like u dont have enough power to spin the drive to the correct rpms

I've powered the hard disk off a separate power supply and it still black screens. I've also tried booting off the windows xp cd and it black screens. Any ideas? I really don't want to have to send the opus back!!!

for some reason mine did that,turn black, today as well. I powered my screen off of the opus. It stoped after two reboots. What other psu are you using to power your harddrive?

I'm using my old AC-DC power supply (was using it with an invertor previously) running off mains electricity to power hard drive. I had it so the opus was only powering the motherboard (disconnected all usb devices etc). With the hard drive connected to the other psu it didn't spin down but the system still black screened. HELP!!!

Give us the specs of the motherboard and processor.

Board: Asus A7V8X-MX SE
Processor: AMD XP 2200+
RAM: 256mb
HDD: 30gb 3 1/2 inch.
I tried it without any usb devices connected and it still didn't work.

Also, may be useful for any ideas... I just took the car on a long drive and after that the system made it to the windows start up screen (still went black after that, but it got further) so it looks like it could be the battery. My car is a 2003 Toyota Echo (aka Yaris) so the battery in it is pretty small. Do you think the battery needs to be upgraded? Can I safely upgrade the battery or will it strain the alternator or something?
