to anyone using a capture device thru USB

If anyone is using a capture device similar to this,
    http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...100-007&depa=0

Do you know if it registers itself with windows as a standard capture device?

It would pretty much have to be a standard WDM capture device to work with XP and any software now days.

I've never really tried a USB 2.0 device. I've seen half that at most (352x240p @ 30) with 1.1 and even with PCI.

Edit: Oops. Yes, for much more $$ you can get 752x486 up to multi-channel uncompressed 1080i like what I've been developing for years. Duh

ok so will it register or not? and whats WDM?

IM asking cause I want to use Frodocam to view the image, and Frodo says I need to find out if it registers as a standard capture device.

I would just get a PCI capture card, but space is very limited.

Yeah, it will just show up as a capture device like a webcam or TV tuner. WDM is a standard for this type of thing.

yah theres a way. But it has to be registed with windows.

i think was frodo is saying is that the camera needs to work without having to load a seperate program to view the images.
