Another lurking noob here, but I have seen similar...

What you have found looks like the same product as this:

    http://www.cartft.com/carpc/catalog/il/447

Not sure if anyone around here has set this kind of system up before, but I know I remember a conversation regarding adapting the "PlayNow" BIOS to the existing EPIA motherboards out there.

yep thats it. I have the EPIA board C3 1Ghz, havent found the PlayNow BIOS though and nor anywhere you can get just the front panels. Im from UK as well and too be honest not many options over here yet! i bought my system from www.hybridware.co.uk and asked them and they are looking into the product and stocking them. Great but that could take ages! lol

anyone who has this system on here, feel free to say hi

    cheers

Oooh scary website --- no phone number to call them on ... take a look at linitx.com for supplies, always very good and I've never had a problem with them.

There are a lot of us here from the UK and have built systems using various EPIA boards.

Yeh i looked at Linitx and they seemed ok, but were out of stock at time, so went 'the impatient way' with other place no problems at all to be fair. Never thought about no number though!

Linitx dont do this product either ive searched high and low!! it would just look a bit nicer then a black box...although nicer to theives too...hmmm

Good catch on the no-number thing. I had only saved that link as a reference to the item.

I never trust sites when buying things if there isn't a contact phone number. People can easily ignore e-mails as they know who they are from but they rarely ignore phone calls.

If killerferret hadn't successfully ordered and had it delivered I would have warned to stay well clear!!

I to wish they sold the panel and the play now bios independant of the rest of the setup. I think that is the easiest and cleanest way to control an in dash unit by far and you get all the benefits of the via mainboard/carpc setup.

exactly, im sure it just clips on to case and connects via USB controller something , i think this BIOS is a chip that has to be replaced and i dont think you can flash the current BIOS. It just makes the system blend with the dash and means u dont have muppets aka friends putting their greasy fingers on the touch screen while they got food on their fingers, you can force them to use the buttons.
