    Hi!

    It helped me too...

Except I'm trying to underclock the cpu with rmclock or crystalcpu and it just freezes as soon as I apply the new settings...

    Tips anybody?

I have this mobo running Atrhlon XP-M 2400+. I would like to underclock this processor to run at slower speeds (somewhere in the range of 1800+ to 2000+). Any pointers on how to set this up correctly in the BIOS? I don't really need the full 2400+ for my CarPC, and I'd like to use as little 'heat' as possible

    Thanks for this thread!!!

not at my car now, so I'm not positive on where it's at in the menu, but if you just hope into your bios, find and drop the multiplier (usually looks like x11) by 1-2 digits, it will underclock it.

Why don't you underclock it from BIOS? I have the same MB underclocked for the summer heat.

    Change the FSB to 133.

The processor speed is a combination of FSB and multiplier, correct?

I think I need to find a FAQ on google, and report back

Read up before you start playing around with it though, more goes into it . . . Core voltage comes to mind.

My CPU states 1.35V in the spec. I assume this needs to be maintained regardless of FSB and multiplier setting?

I researched a little, and read that Athlon XPs have the multiplier LOCKED. I think this also applies to the 'mobiles'? If this is true, looks like we have 2 options to underclock:

    1) Lower the FSB speed in BIOS, or
    2) Apply a so called 'pencil trick' to unlock the multiplier, and lower the multiplier setting in BIOS.
