while booting up the PC, press the delete button a few times (right when it reports the memory and drives and such, black screen)

You will come to a blue Bios screen..select SuperIO Device, and make sure the serial port is set to Auto

    Thanks for the help.
I went into the bios. It wasn't disabled but it was set to one of the other choices. I set serial port 1 to auto and serial port 2 to auto. I went into the Device Manager and it showed two com1 ports (both not working), I changed the second com1 port to com2 and still the same thing.

    Any other usggestions?

i kinda had this same problem, all i did was uninstall the drivers and disabled them, then reinstalled the 4-in-1 drivers and reinstalled the ms ones too and both ports work fine for me now.

how did you reinstall the ms ones? with the windows cd?

I re-installed 4-1 and i get two com1 ports. Is it supposed to be like that? before it would show com2 and com3
