    AMP Power QUESTION!

if i have a mtx 300 watt amp and i want to power it in my house.., i have a transformer plug that goes in the wall its rated @ 12v, and (the amp takes 12v) (car default) etc etc.. can i hook it up and power it in my house rather than the car, btw the transformer plug says this exactly

Direct plug in, class 2 transformer

    model: n3515-1220-DC

    Input: AC 120v 60hz 6w

    Output: DC 12v 200 mA

    Polarity: - -----(@----- +

these seems like it would work, i just want to know from some electronic guys before i blow something up

    EDIT:

the transformer has 2 wires one with black and one with black with a white stipe, does anybody know the pos / neg of each or which is which?

no, you would need something with more amperage than that 200mA wont cut it it will turn on but when you hook it up to sound it will just shut off
you need an 12 volt supply, i forgot the exact name but its a big unit

No, I don't know the english name for it, but it's a device that you charge you battery from the car in the house. You could take off the battery from the car and get it inside. That shlould do it!

You can use a computer power supply for the 12v you need. It'd have to be a 400w+ psu so you could get about 15-20amps. Just short the green and black wires on the atx connector and use the yellow and black ones for your 12v and gnd. Good for testing but I woudn't recommned it as a permanent solution.
