radio reception and alarm keyfob degraded by carputer

I have my computer in the trunk and run audio into the stock headunit

The radio reception on the stock headunit is now utter **** with the computer installed! This happened in my last car also but not as bad as in this one

Also, when the computer is still on, the alarm remote doesnt function well. Once the computer is off, the remote functions like normal

Someone, please, how do I fix this?
It sounds like EMF issues but I have no clue how to remedy it

    Please help
    Thanks in advance

About the radio: did you run the power cables along the same line as the antenna cable? That might cause the interference.

Wot is your computer cased in?

If its not in a metal box it will give off tons of interference and thats not going to help things!

Its not cased in anything actually its obviously giving off a ton of EMF from that but are you certain thats whats causing the problem?
In my last car I had my computer inside a metal case and still got poor radio reception

Im looking for additional steps to take to ensure a good radio signal

0l33l is right the radio recp could be bad because of running 12volt and antenna wires together... try it out might help the radio :-D good luck

I am having the same problem. HEre is a quick test. You can either hook up a regular power supply and run an extension cord into the trunk to test if it is RFI or you can borrow another battery from another car and hook it up in the trunk to the computer. See what happens. No matter what mine just makes my FM like CRAP!

I am 99% sure my radio antenna is on the right side of the car and my computers power cables are on the left side. But I can not say for sure since I have never actually traced it back. I just bought an antenna amp and a extra antenna and I am going to hook them both up and see what happens. I think tomorrow I'll trace the antenna wire.

Is your antenna built into your rear glass? The computer is in the trunk so it is probably throwing up RFI since it is so close.

Also check your 12 volt system with a voltage meter. see if it drops below 12 volts when your computer comes on. Maybe the radio is underpowered?

This is a frustrating problem and I feel for you. I have been working on it for weeks and spent over 100.00 trying to solve it. No luck. Not even a small improvement.

BTW, you have the infinity obviously and I have an 05 nissan altima. I believe you are using the ndis box for aux inputs? I did the same thing. Anyways, we basically have the same bose system. coincidence?

Did you run your power down the passenger side?
Is your computer in a metal case?
Do you also get radio reception issues

Weird thing I found out today is that AM radio works just fine, just no FM. Usually its the other way around!! Just happens to be that I never listen to AM and only want FM
    ARGH!

    My problem has been fixed
Unfortunately I had to scrap my fiberglass enclosure which was this:

Because there was no metal around it, it gave off huge RF interference and was the cause of my problem
I ditched that idea and went with the traditional method, a case. I had a friend fab up a custom small case to hide in the trunk well area. Here are the pics of that

Since the installation of the case radio reception has been perfect. The alarm keyfob still seems to not function that well when the computer is on but its better now.
