dual CPU VIA mini-ITX board

not sure how much of a benifit it would be for people who want to do a little more than just MP3's and GPS on their carputers since many programs aren't designed for multi processors but still pretty cool either way.

not many programs support dual cpu's, but if you are running xp pro, it supports dual cpu's so you can sort of balance out the programs across both proc's.

in any case, nice find.

The Linux kernel supports SMP. Not sure just how many procs, but 2 is certainly doable.

i think it would be cool to have your GPS etc running on the second processor and free up the other one for MP3.

The power consumption will be interesting. Should have a very good processing power/wattage ratio.

I was reading a little more on the new board @ slashdot, apparently it's $1800+ single or $850 for bulk...I can wait

I have been running dual CPUs on Win2k for some time now.... I do not think the cycles you would get out of VIA CPUs would be worth it.

if you look again that link for for a different board. it was some company declaring they had the worlds fastest m-itx board with a pentium M @ 2.3 ghz on the board. I haven't seen anything for price yet of the dual epia.
