sounds like the remote start is still the biggest problem for the laptop caruter.
I saw some replies on people rewired the laptop power/standby button to the front of the car, while this served the purpose it also removed one of the biggest advantage of the laptop carputer. That is you can't pop the laptop out and take it with you anymore.
I think the best solution is "wake on ring". when the car starts up, wired it so it will send the magic wake up packet to the laptop and turn on the machine. I saw someone claim that s/he had done this. I need to find out more. If you know how to do this, please share. thanks
"wake on lan" is a no go, since it requires an ip/mac address
"wake on mouse click" sounds like a good idea. All you'll have to do is touch the lilliput touchscreen to emulate the mouse click. However i have never seem this option in any bios and couldn't really find anything online either.
"wake on keyboard" is another option. However, this requires you to have to keyboard available at all times.
My laptop carputer supports wake on ring. i'm going to find out more and see if i can fashion something that simulates the "magic ring"
