Lightbulb New CarPC Hardware from Insight Solutions Inc.

Has anybody checked this stuff out...

    See Here

They claim their hardware supports 16:9 widescreen resolutions. And they also have a mapping system that has a decent looking 3d view and also an arial photo mode... Looks pretty OEM so I'd guess its all expensive stuff.

    Just thought I'd mention it.

I've got a few poblems with it. First, let's look at all the connectors ont eh back of the unit:

There are two DVI outputs. This is entirely possible, but one is labelled Component Video Out? You need an adapter for that. Ok, that's possible, but it's a stretch. The port is mis-labelled, IMHO.

The second DVI-out is labelled SW K/B FIR GPI/O RS232. That means in that one port, you can get a keyboard, infrared and/or serial port. out of a DVI connector? I don't think so.

The RJ45 is labelled USB x 3? I'm dying to know how you get 3 USB ports off an RJ45.

The PC will control your DVD changer, I see. Again, a stretch.

Is that an RCA connector for the Mic? That's pretty unusual...

A car PC with a TV capture card? Why? Possible, to be certain, but doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

I'm in agreement that at least the backplane of this unit is some decent photoshop work...
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

    It's probably a "concept" picture.

Even if it is a concept picture it is a very bad one you could not pack half the hardware that those jacks would belong to into that size of case not to mention many of them are mounted upside down so the pins would clash with other connectors and boards.

Its clear from an electronics perspective that this is a pipe dream and the reality would be very different than what you see in the image.
