    Motherboard Worth It?

    Hey all...

I've been offered one of these motherboards for $15 :
    http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWeb/Product...=Specification

I know its not mini-ITX, but it has an integrated processor and the extra PCI's could come in handy, plus its going in a car boot so space is tight but not ULTRA tight...

Think its worth grabbing? Or just grab a proper mini-ITX board? (probably M10000)

for $15 even if you dont use it in your car get it. Would be ok as a server or summit. Use it untill you can save money for a better mobo etc and spend your money on a decent screen and GPS stuff for now.

    15 NZ$??? thats like 5.

no, $25NZ which is about $15US, or about 8.50

Its a 'Samuel2' VIA processor, i have no idea where that sits in the VIA lineup compared to Nehimiah or Eden... and it doesnt actually tell me the clock rating, it just says 'GigaPro' so 1GHz would seem obvious but i learned long ago not to take marketing names at face value

Money isnt an issue, i'm spending about $25k on the car install so $250 for a mobo wont even be noticed... but if it does the same job, i'll probably grab it and spend the extra on taking the wife out for dinner or something

If the CPU is removable, the I say go for it. Worse case, you use it for something other than a Car PC...

I had a board with one of these gigapro samuel2 processors on it. Even though it said gigapro, it ran at 800mhz. Performance was decent, I used it as a carputer for a while and it ran everything fine except full screen visualizations ran a bit choppy (then again I could blame the onboard video for that). Anyway, for that price you should definately pick it up.
