Damn - Control Alt Delete !#$%

Can we assign a button to close a crashed program on a touchpanel.
I have a USB keyboard, but never use it unless the system freezes.
Its really annoying when something freezes, and you have to connect a keyboard just to end task.

I wonder if you could gut something like this and just put the CTRL ALT DELETE somewhere discrete on your dash (they look uber-flat).

I knew THAT would pop up... I was gonna post the same thing... how funny would it look to have three buttons mounted on your dash for Alt, Ctrl, and Del... THEN you know Microsoft is in your car! lol

Just like with Microsoft you have to do 3 things with 2 fingers.
Try pushing the Clutch/Brake/Gas with your 2 feet.
It can be done but it is not easy.

Just hook up a micro switch to each.
    Label the "clutch", "control"
    Label the "brake", "alt"
    Label the "gas", "delete"

I know not the perfect solution.

    hehe, some funny posts here.
I have an application that will do just what you are looking for here: Alt-Tab program for the touchscreen
If you look at the screenshot you can see all of the available options for what it can do. It is a fully customizable transparent square that sits on your desktop wherever you want.

There are a couple of old gamepads (pre-USB) that are actually keyboards electronically (to get around the old 4/6 button limitation of the game port), the Interact 3D Program Pad, and the Act-Labs Powerramp Mite. One of those wouldn't be too hard to tuck away up front, or you could hack it (You could actually make one of those 'Microsoft Keyboards'). Both pads support macros (i.e. do more than one thing with a single buttons), so you can map a single button to issue Ctrl-Alt-Del.

They'd work, even if your touchscreen software crashes, so a bit more robust than a software only solution.
