What do you need a timer for? Most mobos have temperature controlled fans. i.e. if they get too hot, fan speed goes up.
before I get flamed for notI did under "Fan Timer" and if it's been discuss where???
I'm almost done with my install...Currently running in the trunk:
MicroATX MB
P3 800
512 PC133
40G 2.5HD
Opus 150 PS
2 amp (2ch & 4ch)
All in a custom box...One concern that I do have is over heating, since the pc is going in the trunk.
Keep in mind that I live in miami...it gets hot during the summer. Is there anyway to have a timer for my fans...

I wanna run maybe 2 fan..1 blowing in the other out...Originally Posted by god_of_cpu

I have never thought of using one in the car, but in my house I do a lot of overclocking and need a fan that can run 60 seconds after the computer shuts down. Works rather well for me. You can even set it to run longer than that.

Why? If your trunk becomes so hot as to exceed the temperature tolerances of the computer, something I doubt would happen, fans will do nothing since they will need cooler ambient air to actually work.

It may or may not be worthwhile, but it doesn't hurt. When you shutdown the computer you are causing a sudden change in temperatures. Yeah the temps are fine and dandy when you are running it, but once you hit shutdown the fans stop. The cpu and other componets are still dissapating heat from when they were running..where does that heat go...it sits inside the case and lingers around and dissapates SLOWLY!Originally Posted by god_of_cpu
Technically that really isn't good for your computer. Wether or not it does damage depends on the extremes of heat, such as in my case when you have your ram and CPU overvolted.
I have a easy circuit that I use for the fans in my amp rack of my car. I will see if I can find it soon, PM me if I forget.
here are pics of the fans I wanna use...they are set to blow air out
