    divx/avi problems

well i had been doing great w/ taking movies from my laptop putting them on my jump drive, then draggin them onto the carpc. now, it seems lately that when i do it, the avi's that are divx encoded are not syncing the audio and video by the time they get on the carpc, but they work fine on the laptop. also, some movies that have worked on the pc before, now are not working... i have tried windows media player 9, classic media player, and the winamp plug in, all of them have sync issues...

the system is a m10k using a mx4000 video card, 512 ram, coming off of a 3.5" hard drive, 72000rpm... Anyone else know how i can optimize the software to work better, sinc ei htink it is a software problem?? can anyone offer a better player solution than the ones i have listed above??

could it be that your via is now more bogged down now and is struggling to keep up? What is you CPU load?

i hate to suggest it, but have you thought about using the actual divx player? from divx.com?

Ive always found that it will play the most files, but i dont like the interface that much

    worth a shot...

Probably not the player - Check your codecs

Chances are, if it worked before and it doesn't now, that it's not the player but the codecs that are making the difference.

Xvid and FFDSHOW, for example, are two codecs both capable of playing Divx files. Installing a new codec, or installing them in a different order for different PCs may ultimately result in different codecs being used to play the same files.

Also, bear in mind that divx movies coded with the pro features (qpel and motion compensation) tend to take more CPU power to decode than "vanilla" divx files, and the EPIAs struggle with them.

    Good luck troubleshooting!

I agree, I've found that if you have the computer power that most of the time the problem is the codecs. I usually only install a few codecs on my systems. FFDSHOW, Real Alternative, Quicktime Alternative, and Nvidia MPEG2 DVD Decoder.

try unchecking " Hardware Acceleration " etc on the AUDIO, this will slow down the audio processing.

i couldnt find the hardware acceleratoin on the audio, in fact all i could find was video options in media player...

could someone go a little farther into the codec talk... all i have ever done before is divx, where can i get the other ones, and which ones should i keep and get rid of??

i do have the nehemiah core processor, so i was hoping that wasn't the issue...
