ok now im gonna be using a few PCI slots in my version 2 PC, but in the false floor that this will be installed in i dont have much vertical room (mobo is installed horizontally) for the cards... is there anything like a short IDE type cable to allow me to move the cards and install them horizontally as well

You can try looking at a PCI riser card which are pretty common in a lot of desktop form factor PCs (like the old HP Kayaks). Fits into one PCI slot and can allow for 1 to x number of horizontal PCI slots... the x depending on the height of the riser card.
