Mobile Athlon XP Mobo: Works with Opus 150w, integrated video at native Xenarc rez?

Hi all,

I'm looking to install a car pc into my vehicle in the near future and have learned a great deal from this site. It is awesome having such a good resource.

I would like to go with the following components:

PSU: Opus 150w
Monitor: Xenarc 700TSV
CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2500+ Mobile

I will also use a 3.5" HDD, with 512 megs of ram, and a few usb devices (gps, wifi, powermate, wireless keyboard, dvd drive).

I need to pick a motherboard for this set-up, but could use some help. My requirements are that it has onboard video capable of feeding the Xenarc 7" touchscreen its native resolution without issue, and that it has no problems working with the Opus power supply.

I've been searching for the past hour and have only read confilcting reports of what works and what does not. The VIA boards with integrated graphics will not work, but do all of the nForce2 boards with integrated video work properly with the Xenarc (ie. display at native resolution)?

For example, the Biostar M7NCG and Asus A7N8X VM/400 :: I have heard issues with both of these boards being powered by the Opus. Does the Biostar still have issues, even if you order the PSU from Opus and mention the motherboard you will be using? Does the A7N8X VM/400 really have an issue with the PSU? I also could not find a post that specifically said that these boards will do native resolution on the Xenarc (although a member confirmed that it works great with the Lilliput).

I apologize if this question seems silly, but I have searched hard and would just like some confirmation before I order.

I'm currently using a M7NCG w/2400 mobile on the Opus without a prob. I also power my Xenarc, Slim DVD, 3.5" HDD, USB Wifi, & USB BT Dongle.

The NForce chipset is great. I've added 800x480 and it works fine. The audio is running 5.1 analog out to my amps which sounds great as well.

Perfect, exactly what I needed to hear. When did you get your Opus? Did you have to specify that you were using the M7NCG at order time?

I bought the Opus from a member here. IIRC, the issue was with only some older PSU's. But i'd specify the mobo setup at order time just for good measure.

I have the M7NCG as well, paired with an amd athlon mobile 2200. No issues with my non-modified opus150. Read my post here: Buying Opus for M7NCG from Mp3car ?
I did have some initial problems with the mb and cpu working together, but just had to hardcode in the settings - you can search for that post later if you run into problems.
