    Question Whole PC in dash?

Hey everyone! I just got a 1995 Mazda Miata MX-5 two days ago!!!

Anyway I was planning to try to make a car PC for it during the summer. My question is that is are there any suggestions or sugested hardware that I should use to make the whole PC fit in the double DIN space. I don't want to use the truck (aka: the glovebox) because it is already small as is without a PC case in the back. The back of the DIN is open so if I use some fans I should be easy to cool.

P.S. - I am very experienced with computers and computer moding (I'm working on a fully internal, dual res. water cooled SN41G2 Shuttle at the moment), but this will be my first Car PC

    Hi sina3001,

If you have two din slots than if you don't feel like changing your dash you could look at something like this http://linitx.com/product_info.php?products_id=685 and one of these http://linitx.com/product_info.php?c...roducts_id=402 I'm quite new to this as well but I only have one slot and i'm trying to decide if i want either of those...

Well done with the water cooled shuttle, wouldn't mind seeing pics.

    Good luck,
    Nick

Thanks. I'm still working on the Shuttle, so when I finally finish it I'll post some pics online. I plan on using a 7 inch xenarc or lillput, so I don't mind doing some custom molding and cutting. I plan on buying a 2nd bezel and modding that so I don't screw up my original. I want to build a PC that will be completely within the space of the double DIN so that it would be easy to install and remove if needed in the future and so it is as compact as possible.

I would like to: Play DVD's and DivX, play Mp3's and CD's, GPS, and maybe GPRS internet in the future. I don't need a state of the art system, but I want it to be more than capable of the above tasks.

Here's a link to my in dash install:

    Mazda Protege5 Indash Carputer Install

I'm replacing the ITPS/PSU w/ an M1-ATX this weekend and redoing the bezel to get a cleaner look.

Xenarc, custom case, M10000, 40 gig 2.5" hard drive, laptop DVD burner, Wi-fi, Bluetooth, GPS mouse, FP 1.09, M1-ATX

Look for me on the track, cause that's where you'll find me.

    You could get this one

I just bought one of these. It's specifically made for a WRX but it shouldn't take too much to make it work in any two-din dash.
