mobo $130 ; 150wOpus-$200 ; 256mb pc2700 -$10 ; 120gb HDD 7200-$70 ; Lilliput TS 7"-$265 ; USB LAN-Free AR ; Rikaline 6010 GPS-$34 ; ShuttleXpress-$37
Total = $746....Carputer = Priceless
from what he said it seems it is possible.
the lilliput needs 12V which is yellow. the USB device needs 5V which is red.
I am at a lose. I am sure someone else has had this issue before. I tried the Slimline drive on IDE with the slimline -> IDE adapter and the drives works fine, so power issue doesnt seem to be it. Tried a 12V CDROM drive on the USB adapter and that drive works fine. So all the individual components seem to be working fine.
I have the same problem, I am running a 5metre extension direct from the pc to the dvd drive and measured the voltage entering the drive at 5v but the computer doesn't read the dvd, I have swapped it with a big dvd external drive which works fine but i would like to use the slim one any ideas![]()
another question is how do i reduce the cars 12v supply to 5v 2.0a for the drive as i have been using a plug in converter and I would like to hard wire it?
I am having similar probs...I have a SLIM USB Pioneer DRV-K05.. To answer your power question you need to hook it up on the 5 rail of the PC...(Red wire in the molex connectors).
I have mine powered via 5v rail. With the little 2 FT USB cable it runs fine!
Add any more than that and windows cannot find! Kind of eliminates the purpous if you can't move it more than 2 feet away deson't it? It seems like data loss, because the power is sufficient. Any takers?
