I've got 16 feet of USB, no problem.
I have to run a usb cable from my hub up front to my motherboard out back. I had used an active extention up until it decided not to work anymore. Now my question is, can I run a passive usb extension cable without having any data transmission troubles? The length it would have to be is roughly 13ft. Anyone using any passive ones?

I am using a 10 ft usb 2.0 extension for my xenarc touchscreen, works without any problems. I had a usb "active" extension first which didnt work at all and kept being detected as an "unknown device" for some reason, i am waiting for the replacement to come in. but anyways for now i am using a regular 10 ft extension.
I use a 20 foot extension without any problem at all. An active powered repeater for 13' is overkill and just adds another failure point.

Thats exactly the problem I'm having. Its a "unknown device" all of a sudden. The weird thing is that it worked for almost a year.Originally Posted by sanbas
Its good to here people are using longer lengths than I need and everything is fine.
Anyone know of any good cheap websites to order cables from?
