Orinoco Gold and EPIA board crosstalk/conflict

Hi guys,

Orinoco Gold PC Card (PCMCIA) and my EPIA MII 10000 seems to have a problem. My sound is being passed to a Creative Labs Audigy NX.

When the Orinoco gold connects to a network or leaves a network i hear crackle or a quick pause when playing music.

When I drive around without the Orinoco on no crackle at all.

It is a great way to notify me that an open network is within range But it would be better to hear the music.

Any ideas?

PCMCIA and PCI cards are usually assigned an IRQ which pauses the system when its aquiring a signal (as far a WIFI goes) if you got a USB network card the problem would be non-existant

Well there is a trade off as far as usb goes. The Pc Card that I use has a 5db gain antenna mounted on the trunk.

I am typing this from a public park in my car as my son practices soccer. I have a USB DWL-122 but it has its own issues, such as lack of connectivity (fades in and out) and no external antenna, much shorter range, and sub standard Net Stumbler connectivity.

Anyway if the is no fix I will just disable it when in motion, dont need it then.

The USB orinocos are just PCMCIA cards with a lucent specific USB->PCMCIA adapter, so you still have the external antenna connector.

Guess there is no fix then. I will just turn it off when not needed. The adapter is nice but I dont want to add yet another USB device.

zip, sorry to bring an old thread back, but i was looking at getting your same orinoco card to free up a usb spot. i currently get a lot of hard-drive chitter chatter in the speakers, but i believe this is from the sb external 24bit sound card i have. have you found any solutions to your problem of crosstalk chitter chatter?

I have a MII10000 with an Orinoco card and no problems. I use the spdif out and have wireless zero configuration disabled.
