USB 2.0 issues PLEASE HELP!

Anyway I do not have the option. When i disable the Usb controller it completley grays out the USB 2.0 option.. So you need to enable the Usb controller in order to determine if you enable or disable 2.0

What chipset does this mobo run off of? In my case, I had to install the VIA Hyperion chipset drivers to get my hardware to work properly. Good luck.

The mobo used the Intel 845 Chipset, i tried d/ling all of the intel drivers from their site. However everything says windows xp has it already. The driver is from 2002 and i am trying to see if there is a later one out there. Hopefully Commell will get back to me soon.

Just thinking... Are you using Minlogon? It has USB detection issues.

No, i am using standard boot. I dont have any strange addons or tweaks. Could there be any services that would have an impact on USB?

Doubt it's a service. Did it ever work before? Sometimes it has to do with the order you install the bios updates, drivers and SP2. Do you have a way of backing out of SP2?

If not, and all else fails, and as a last resort, and assuming you have several hours to kill, you could try backing everything up, unplugging all of your devices, and reformatting/reinstalling XP, then updating all of your drivers (bios, video, usb, intel, etc.) first, and then apply all of the Microsoft patches including SP2.

Once that's done, test one of the USB 2.0 devices and install the latest driver from the manufacturer if there is one. If it works, start installing your other USB devices one at a time until they're all installed, and then do the same thing with your applications, testing a USB 2.0 device after each install. With any luck, everything will work and you'll know it was just the order your updates were installed.

Sounds crazy and I know it's a huge PITA, but you'd find the culprit.

Is this problem resolved. I was planning on purchasing the LV-670 to get away from USB nightmares I am having with my Moca 7043 PC. This is not a good sign. Oh yeah, chances are you might have to do a reinstall to get working again. You shouldnt have to install any USB dirvers regardless what chipset your using. Windows XP SP2 will work the best for you. Also, download USBInfo, its a great tool to look and see if USB 2.0 deives are really usb 2.0. Paid versions will allow you to do benchmark stuff.
