Opus 120 or Opus 150? Xenarc 700TSV or Lilliput 7"

When I started drawing the plan for my e46 Project (
Project BMW E46 thought I knew what I wanted. I've been in this forum for 2 days now and have been trying to read as much as possible and its confusing me. There is a lot of usefull informationa and lots of helpfull ppl and lots of encouragment. Initially I had set my mind on the Xenarc 700 TSV however I've seen people opt for the Lilliput 7" VGA Touch screen as well. Any suggestions?

However the main confussion is now the car puter its self.

I had set my mind on the MP3Car Custom Car Computer (OPUS), which I later found has the Opus 120. My idea was to have the screen connected to the PC so that they can both stay on after switching of the car using the delay switch for car shows etc.

I've seen the following intallations that i liked.

The Travala C137 with 2 pci slots. and the
Morex2699

However with those two I'd have to build the complete PC on my own. I am trying to save as much as I can on the hardware since I am building and ICE install as well using Alpine components. So anthing saved on Hardware would be a plus since I'll be spending money on labour as well for some parts of the installation.

Plus the PC has to be either under the seat or in the glove compartment since I'm gonna have 2 12" Subwoofers in the boot and I am trying to avoid damaging my hard disk from the excessive bass.

I really can't say about the Opus 120W, but from what I've seen in its chart, it can take a smaller load on the 12V and 5V line than the 150W (obviously...). So, if you plan on many devices running from the PSU, go for the 150W version.

The Lilli has had many isues for people on this board, that's why I'd say the Xenarc is more realiable.

Chris, When you say connect more devices to the PSU, what can be connected? Is the screen connected to the PSU as well?

It depend also on your components. Depends wheather you use a desktop or laptop type drives (optical and HDD). For example, my PSU powers 3 screens, 2 CCFL neons, a desktop HDD, a slim DVD unit, an USB hub, a back up cam, and ofcourse the low power consuption Epia M10000 mobo.

How did u manage to power all of those components from the OPUS 150 if it has only one power out put? What did you use to split the output?

I am thinking of using the Carnetix p1900 PSU to power a Sumicom SlimPRO SP625. I have decided to go with the SlimPRO coz it has an interl mobile processor. Only draw back is no PCI slot, therefore everything has to be via USB. Therefore i'll need to power the screen, PC, Audigy2 NX and USB Hub via the PSU

if he did anythin like i did, i just created my own molex extension wires from using a dead power supply's connector and some wire i bought from home depot.
Just make sure you know this for conventional powersupplies and youll be fine
Black = Ground
Red= 5V
Yellow = 12V
