Well, I guess this is just my 2nd post, but I'm not a complete idiot. I have just had my tonsils out, and I am going to be sitting around the house for the next 2 weeks ... giving me plenty of time to figure this all out and maybe even get it done. Plus, maybe you guys can help me out of sympathy since I have just had surgery ...
Some background: I have a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am (here), and I am planning on keeping the stock stereo as it is a Monsoon with mp3, XM, and steering-wheel controls. I plan to move it out of the top (which seems like a perfect spot for the screen) and down to a slot below, which you can see in this pic:
I don't know what you think of that idea as far as looks/difficulty.
I do have a few questions:
1. Would I be better off buying a comp. off e-bay or building my own out of one of the desktops that I don't use? My concern is that it would be too much / too hot / too big for the car once I made it. They have some decent looking comps on e-bay, but some are a little sketchy.
2. Would it be too hot to put in the glovebox?
3. Can I use my stock XM receiver with the computer?
4. Any other ideas / suggestions / things I may not be thinking of that I should be / etc.
Answers to any/all of these questions would be MUCH appriciated, and I'll prob be on late tonight and all day tomorrow if you want to PM or IM me (Geezwine).
