    reverse polarity

    if one had to guess...

on an a/c adapter or cigarette lighter adapter... the wire coming out being two wires insulated and stuck together, one being striped (marked white)...

which would you say is positive and negative?

what would happen if i reversed polarity?

please help me from blowing stuff up!

Q.which would you say is positive and negative?

A.In electrics and electricity they teach you that the live colors are always the positive but i found that in some cars (like mine) the live color (in this case red) is the negative so better get a tester and check polarity.

Q.what would happen if i reversed polarity?

    A.You blew a fuse.

So you can now plug the usb hub and it powers on and evething but the computer freaks when plug????

Try in other usb in the PC (better from the ones behind the mobo no the front panel)
If that doen't make it work bring it inside and check if it work.

This sound more like a driver issue.

A cheap multimeter is an invaluable piece to add to your carputer toolkit. Just drop by Radio Shock and pick one up, you'll be suprised how useful it is.
