Post Extending wires from Power Supply?

Would there be any problems if I was to extend the wires between my power supply and motherboard by 10 feet or so? What I want to do is run my inverter and power supply in the trunk of my car, while placing the motherboard, CD-Rom, and HDD in the passenger compartment. Is this going to work?

    Thanks,
    Marlin Liew

    Marlin ..

Personally I can't see the harm in extending the wires from the power supply to the motherboard etc .. after all, they only carry DC.

You might want to upgrade the gauge of wire used though, to minimise voltage losses over long distance - also, thread the power supply wires through a large toriodal ring to minimise RFI emissions.

    Hope that helps ..
    Happy mp3'ing :)

A toroidal ring is a ferrite donut...! Wrapping the wires around it basicly makes a choke and prevents high frequencies passing.

    Question

What a sec with a toriodal core, how would you use it with a 10' wire? Would you wrap the wires around the toriodal core right before you connect it to the motherboard? Or would you do it right after it leaves the power supply?

    Thanks
