    firewire drive controller help

I Have a firewire/USB controller.. and some how the firewire part doesn't work. USB is still fine.

I noticed on the PCB that there is a component that shows signs of getting a bit too hot, some scorching.

I use the controller to power my screen, and it had a weka ground and I think it used the controller via firewire as a ground path. so I;m thinking of replacing the burned part and hoping for the best.

I have attached a photo of the component highlighted.. any one know what it is?..

check your firewire connectors for shorts (inside the connector and where they solder to thw board)

Yeah, that's a crystal. And also, Firewire (6-pin) has power on it, so I don't think the ground would cause a problem...
