wiring in a megaphone - does the line need 2 be fused???

Strage question i know but my m8 is a strange bloke and he wanted a megaphone under the hood so he can scare the sh** outta ppl when he's driving round town. im wiring it in 4 him know how 2 do that (switch and line straight from battery to megaphone wires, its 12v so its straight forward) just need 2 know if the line needs 2 b fused (like a sub power cable) and also if im wrong about the power requirements would it be possible to step or limit the power with some basic electronics (i cant b arsed wiring this bloody thing in all day as the space to work in is tiny) so that the megaphone can use it with out problem.

Couldn't hurt to fuse it just to be on the save side. Sounds like a good time in the making though...

he he he he...I had one of those on my 83 tercel hatchback--LOADS of fun.

Yes, you need to put a fuse in there, for no other reason than to prevent a fire if the wire get's shorted.

Any time you wire something to the battery it needs a fuse. There must be a fuse between the battery and everything. Why?

If the wire shorts out, you could melt the wire, and at the worst, blow the battery.
