1997 Honda Civic CD Changer Help!

    Folks,

I have a 1997 honda civic with a cd changer HU. The changer is missing but the plug and bracket is still there.

It is my understanding that older alpine changers will work with this plugin but may have the audio swapped.

What I want is the pin out for the 1997 civic changer output and the pin in for the 5960 Alpine changer I have to see how compatible it is. I've searched this message board and the web with no luck. I know there are honda to alpine converter cables but I want to first verify that the pins from the honda are o.k. When I plug the changer in I get nothing and when I test the honda-side din, I get no power showing up.

Help? I think if I had both din pin outs I could work it out.

    Thanks

If you for Alpine M-BUS and/or Honda M-Bus, you may get some usefull info.
If I remember it right and you have the one with DIN style connector, the plug different is pin4 and pin2 are swap (audio L=R and R=L).

    97 civic alpine changer

Yes I think you are right. I understand that the audio might be flipped. I'm still trying to find a pinout of those two (honda and alpine cd changer) connections. I googled on them and found a lot of adapters but no pin diagrams.

I'll keep looking. I know some are on the web.

I have got one around here somewhere. I had a 98 civic with an alpine changer, I actually still have the changer if you would like to buy it.

The cables are fairly cheap <$10, that is how I created my aux in.

    Edit, found it!

    thanks guys

Thanks for the help all. I did take a look at it last night and did some tracing with my meter and found there was no hot leads from the honda side so I got curious and pulled the radio. For whatever reason, the cable was pulled out of the back of the Head Unit so I reconnected it and it now controls the changer fine. Sounds good too. I will have to check into the left/right swap that y'all mentioned with the honda/alpine mbus connection, but its going now anyway.

Thanks again for the help with the pin outs. Now I will have to try
something hard down the road: hooking an mp3 player up like you guys do

    thanks
