I didn't think this board has S3.
I'ming right now to find the right settings to get the Opus and this board to play nice. Starts up fine, but can't get it shut down. (All of the jumpers are off the Opus which should be a 10 second shutoff, right?)
anyone have their supper popular biostar m7ncg working with s3 standby?

I think some revisions of the board do support S3
mine is rev. 7.2 and I was hoping there might be a Bios version I could use that would fix it. I am going to spend more time looking it up, I got sidetracked doing other things but finally took the pc out of the car today to redo it, so i will be working more on it in the next couple of days.
As far as the opus goes, mine just worked the first time I plugged it in, how old is your opus and what did you set windows to do when the power button is pressed?
I will check to see where the jumper is on my opus i dont remember at the moment.

I set XP to go into hiberbate when the button is pressed. I'm working with tech support at Opus right now to try and resolve it.
Any luck with a BIOS update?
not yet, still have the carputer sitting on my desk, have a NY meet comming up this weekend so that should force some motivation for me to take a look. Good luck with opus, I will update this thread soon.Originally Posted by wallaceacura

I have mine on S1 & S3
I have had mine working on S3 alone though.
AMD XP 2600+/512MB RAM/120GB hard drive
Opus 150W/DVD/GPS/7" Lilliput TS/802.11g/Bluetooth
Installed.
-GPSSecure- - GPS Tracking
-AltTabber2.2.2- - Handy touchscreen utility.
next time you have your head in the case could you take a quick look at the revision number on your board? As far as i have been able to find out there were 3 revisions: 1.0, 7.0 and 7.2. I beleive that 1.0 had S3. But if you have a 7 or 7.2 board that would gve me hope.Originally Posted by xBrady

I just updated the BIOS with ver 7.2 and there is no S3. This must have been a feature with ver 1.0.
What does S3 do for us? I have a Biostar rev 7.2
I remember this S3 thing had something to do with the 'sleep' mode of the mobo and devices?

S3 is suspend to ram. The only thing left powered is ram the power consumption is so low you can easily leave you computer in this stae for extended periods of time and not drain your battery consideriblyOriginally Posted by justintime
The biggest benifits is that the start up and shutdown times are reduced to 1 or 2 seconds.
