JUst take one of the regulars (the one that comes with double connector) and cut the longest part and that it.... you will have 4 to 6 inches of ide cable
I cant seem to find a good store that has small or short ide cables. I got a 4in IDE cable that was rounded with a shuttle case. I used this cable in my new case and need another. Everyone just carries the standard 18" crap. What about us CarPC gurus using mini-itx cases? Can anyone point me in a good direction?

Use a standard ribbon cable and fold it over multiple times to achieve the length you need/want. Secure it with a zip tie.Originally Posted by jedi7001
When I'm building a box, I tend to fold the IDE over the top of the hard drive to keep it out of the way. It also helps open up the case for airflow that way. Granted, that's a full ATX case, so it doesn't help you here.
Yup, use a nice sharp craft knife and just keep the bit that usually goes between the drives (sometimes marked primary and secondary on the tabs).Originally Posted by thanatos106
There is no special end, all the plugs and wiring are the same whatever end you use. From a standard 24" cable once you cut the end off that goes to the system board you should just have an 8" single ide piece.
