Thread: Can't insert disc into Slot Load drive

I have it hooked up and WindowsXP says it's all good, but I cannot insert a disc into it. It goes in about half way and stops cold. If I hit the eject button, the drive ejects it, although it's only about 1/2 inch of ejection. The drive did not come with any documentation. I have searched these forums as well as Google.

The only lead I have is a friend of mine said that some older slot loading car stereo CD players had a screw in them that "locked them for transport", which would have to be removed before using the drive.

I'm using a slimline to IDE adapter. I *think* it's getting enough power, but perhaps not.

I don't see anything obvious on the drive. Any clues?

There might be a screw. Contact the MP3Car store, although I tend to think they would have mentioned that somewhere. DId you ?

It could be defective. It does happen. It doesn't sound like power or an interface problem with the MB. It sound hardware related.

It happend to me..... when working with the adapter that comes with the slim box (ebay). It seen that is no puting tge right power to tge actual drive connector (50 pins).

I had a problem like this - with my travla case, try operating it with the lid off the case.
I found that the case was squeezing the drive too hard and so it wouldn't accept CD's - took the lid off the PC case and it all worked - so just made sure there was more clearance when I reinstalled
