How to enable USB 2.0 on my laptop?

I need some help. Everytime I plug in my memory card reader, a message pops up saying Hi Speed Device plugged into low speed usb port, or something along those lines. I know my laptop has USB 2.0 but its not functioning. I tried searching for drivers on Dell's site but they dont have one. The laptop is a Dell Inspiron 5100.

sometimes only a selct number of your USB ports may be 2.0 .. and dell would be jsut the honest company to pull the wool over on ya too..

    try different USB ports

It might only have USB2.0 ports when you have it in the docking station. If it does have them at all.

XP will post that message up anytime you put a 2.0 device into a 1.1 idea if you can shut it off or not.

and if your only running XP SP1 theres a 50/50 chance that the "Enhanced" controller driver might not be installed, and sometimes you have to manually do it on SP2
