    CAR TV problems!!

    Hi peeps

I purchased a Compro VideoMate DVB-T300 digital and analogue TV card. Its a PCI tv card. http://www.comprousa.com/
I have installed the card, and Windows picks it up fine, drivers and software installed etc.

I have a problem in that the analogue TV picture is really slow. I have not had a chance to test the digital as my house does not pick it up. It did work this weekend when I was elsewhere but did not have enough reception to really assess properly. I have checked the specs and they are fine in accordance to min spec on box.

The card is in my car pc, specs are:
    VIA EPIA M1000 1ghz CPU
    512Mb RAM
    40gig disk
    On board video and sound
The screen is a LinITX 7inch Touch Screen
    Spec here: http://linitx.com/product_info.php?c...roducts_id=553

I use the VGA output and composite output for multiple monitors, but I have disabled the composite output and run just the VGA to see if the problem can be solved.

I have refresh rate 60 - 100 hertz. I have tried 60 and 75(only rates supported) and if alternate between the two it seems to speed the picture up. No one refresh rate in particular makes the picture faster just if I alternate them in Advanced setting tab. i.e. If i start the Compro TV software in 60hz its slow, then change to 75 while the software is running it will speed up. Close software, repeat procedure from 75hz to 60 works OK

I will be trying the card out in my P4 machine to see if it is something to do with the onboard card.

    Any suggestions otherwise?

ive got the same card, i had a problem with my freeview finding channels but you have to set it to search all channels and frequencies for any country, takes ages but it does find most of the freeview channels. major thing that annoyes me about it is that it finds all the channel names and lists them, but it cant display half of them. bit daft really.

Simple, what antenna do you use?

When I picked up digital TV this weekend the picture was brilliant but sound and video were out of sync and the picture was very slow/delayed.

How is the analogue on yr PC?

    What spec is your pc?

I want to try and see if its the onboard video. Its a bit of a bummer cos I have a riser card which is already taken up by the Compro and my Wifi, so a new PCI screen card ain't an easy option. Unless I flog the WifiPCI and buy a USB wifi stick.

How fast is the actual TV picture? Is it as quick a a normal TV set?

I imagine your 2.8 gig has a decent graphics card too, so it prob works nicely in terms of refresh rates

Anyone on here running a COMPRO with a VIA board?

your probably right yeah, im running a radeon saphire 2800.
if u want i can try playing my tv through my lilliput screen tonight?
i dont have any problem with sound etc. being out of sync. kinda wish id bought a different card though. comproDTV is some of the worst software ive used, no user friendly features whatsoever and the tuning is terrible, im hoping their will be some more software out their that supports this card. think im gunna msg compro and see if they know of any other software that supports the card.

You can use some 3rd party software that may be more TS friendly. I was just on the ComproUSA website and under the FAQ's somewhere is a list of some 3rd party software.

Yeah, if you hook up yr lilli it may eliminate some avenues I need to explore to correct my problems. Cheers.
    I eagerly await the results.

    UPDATE:

I tried this PCI Card in my P4 board. It works 100% perfect.

I have now tried turning hardward accelaration off at various levels - no joy.

Increased RAM on card to 64MB no luck.

    Anyone out there?

The problem may be your motherboard tiself. My old computer has a Mini-Itx Epia M10000 in it (i built it into a small metal box i found at Ikea lol) and although it's advertised at a 1ghz, it's a celeron and it's more like to run like a 550mhz machine. I didn't have a TV Tuner card but video was always a little choppy on it. If it's working fine in you P4 board then maybe this is the case?
    Good luck!
