Power Button connect via telephone wire

OK SO i mounted a momentary push button in my dadh today. And i am going to connect it to the Green and white wire from the PSU to the mobo. My question is, I am usiing 24 gauge telephone wire. It comes in a roll and its NOT the telephone wire with the plug on the end. This wire had 4 THINK wires inside a black/red/green/yellow wires. IM just wondering if it is ok to take to of the wires and connect them to the PUS to mobo wires? I already tapped in to the wires and rad the wire to the switch. I just didnt connect it to the switch. Will this work? Hopefully i didnt waste my time....

that is the way I ran mine for a long time...with old telephone wire...then I got a shutdown controller and disconnected the power button. Should work fine for you.

It wasnt for me...it really isn't gonna take a real load. Just think about how small the wire is going from the switch to the board in the first place. Only trouble I ran into was it was a pain in the *** soldiering it in place. another option if you want is to use old network (cat5) cable. I use that for a bunch of stuff in my setup, LED's etc. It is a bit bigger...but the phone wire should work.

Glad I could be of help.

well as long as it will work. Basically I took the wire and tapped into the Green and white wire and that wire is coming out of the casr about 2 feet. I am going to connect the to wires to a 2-terminal barrier strip. Then the wires from the button will connect to the other side of the barrier strip.

I used CAT5 but telephone wire should be fine. I needed 4 pairs for running power LED, Reset LED, power button, and reset button.
