    Question Pioneer AVX-7000

Does anyone have any detailed information on the AVX-7000? Pioneer doesn't have much to say about this product. I was wondering what the dimensions and resolution of the display are? I was also wondering what the specs on the receiver are? Are there any rca preouts? I would hope there are at least three. Also, can you hook up a CD changer?

I know this sucker is expensive, but I think it would look cool, and save a lot of hassel in hooking up my own lcd.

    Any info will help!!!

Hey, I've got one in my car! It works tremendously!
But the AVX-7000 is just the display. You will need the central unit with the built-in amplifiers and FM tuner as well. I've got the AVM-P7000R, that's a 4 x 45 MOSFET amplifier and has an IP bus (pioneer thing) that connects to a 12-CD changer. You can also connect a TV-tuner and a VCR. It has AUX in and Pre-OUT, subwoofer-out and a Video-OUT, and also two Video-IN plugs. The video-in I'm using to connect to my MP3 CarPC.

If you are considering buying one: today Pioneer has two new models, the "8000" and the "9000". They work fine with the AVX-7000 screen, and they provide you with DTS, digital theater sound, AND a 6 x DVD-CHANGER! Realy cool!
Almost forget one thing: you can add a GPS navigation system as well (at least I did).
    regards, Erik.

    Question

    Erik thanks for the info.

I have a few more questions for you though.
What would you say the dimensions of the AVM-P7000R are? Secondly, how is the resolution on the lcd display? Can you make out winodws fonts and icons? Also, is it possible to hook a monitor cable into either unit that has a D-15 adapter on one end, and a RGB connector on the other end? I have several of these laying around the office. I am wondering if this would give better quality than an RCA video in.

    Dimensions: Standard 1 unit dashmount.
Resolution: It's not in the specs, but I found it somewhere on the internet. I've written it down, but I cannot find it anymore. If I remember correctly, it was something like 320 X 240. Some manufacturers specify 960 x 240, but the 960 means 3colorsx320. If you loop it up on the internet look for 7" wide screen and Sharp (it is a sharp LCD).
I don't know if it is possible to connect a monitor directly to the display. Probably you need a LCD driver to do this. Since I have an industrial single board computer with such an interface I might try this some time later.
If you use the video in, quality is not as good as you get with the navigation unit, but it is readable if you use large fonts and contrasting colors.
    Hope this helps.
