    HDD location.

I'm in the process of building a much smaller case for my PC. I have a question about how close I can mount the HDD's to the PSU. Does it matter, or will the PSU effect the performance of the HDD's?

    Thanks

the PSU case is grounded, as is the HD case, so the HD internals should be pretty well shielded. But I've never tried it, either.

I would say grab a crappy HDD and try it out
But don't take it from me! here's a quote from a real, live newbie:

In people's tiny cases, they have hard drives right next to/over the PSU with no issues. I've had desktop cases configured this way, as well.
    Relax. You'll be fine.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

My hard drive is right over my motherboard and right next to my power supply. In fact the mounting bracket for the hard drive is the heatsink for the power supply...!

Not a lot of room in my case to do anything different.
